The long road of restoring my Silvia…. My one has been in a stripped state for about 25 years, everything needs restored, made or found, new or used. I have been busy since I got the Silvia….

One of the first tasks I did, was cast some exterior badges from my shabby ones. Cast in bronze, which will chrome well.

Now got the basic badge.

Cleaning the badges up. This took me about 25-30 hours to do, each, for the wing badges.

I did not have a rear badge to copy, but brought a pewter cast one someone had done.

This part of the process finished. Front badge currently with machinist, for stud fitment. Not perfect, but so much better than what I had.

Another part too gone to restore is my interior armrests. Lost all the stuffing, the outer plastic dirty and sticky.

Time to make new ones…no photos of early process, but hand carved from English oak (was table leg).

Then router a strip out in armrest for chrome insert (which was 5mm square copper length) to go in.

…restored to a fabulous high standard. They went to a restorer in the USA. Stripped, bezel machined off, bezel re-chromed, cleaned, the facia newly screen printed, and all re-assembled. I had the temperature gauge changed to centigrade from fahrenheit (me forgetting the Japanese market has centigrade, so the scale is not quite right). Long job, done by a high standard, I am so pleased with these. Thanks Jon!
